School Assembly

Book week concluded today with a school assembly. Some children dressed up as characters from their favourite books. 2nd class acted out some stories, all the children recited poems about books and a few children read out stories that they had written themselves. A big thank you to Mrs Greene who organised the week.

Author Steve McCarthy

Author and illustrator Steve McCarthy shared his new book about Mountain Man who lives on Buffalo Mountain. He has yet to publish this book so he asked the children to help him with illustrations. The children enjoyed listening to the story and doing their own illustrations.

Review of standards of literacy and numeracy

As part of a study of schools the Education Research Centre has selected St Patricks JNS to review our standard of literacy and numeracy in 2nd class. This will involve the children taking tests in reading and maths and answering a short questionnaire. There will also be a questionnaire for parents.
All information will be treated confidentially and will only be available to the researcher. It is anticipated that this will happen next month. If you have any queries, please talk to the class teacher.
